From time to time undergraduate and postgraduate health professionals in training are attached to the practice. When this applies there will be a notice in the waiting room giving details.
Video recording of some consultations may also be undertaken (only with patient consent) to assist in teaching, learning and assessment in medical education. Intimate physical examinations will not be recorded. The receptionist will inform patients when surgeries are scheduled for video recording. A notice will be displayed in the waiting room giving details.
Identifiable patient information from your medical record will usually only be used for you medical care and shared on a need to know basis with other healthcare professionals.
Additionally, patients records are sometimes used for the purpose of teaching, clinical audit and research, this information is always anonymised, unless explicit consent has been obtained. If you do not wish this to happen please inform the reception staff who will make a note in your manual and computer record accordingly.
The practice leaflet Access to Health Records (including details on how your information may be used) is available from reception.
